なるはこ · Plein Air
Naruhako is a traveling large-format portrait studio. Rather than working from a permanent space, I create temporary studios wherever the light and surroundings feel right—parks, cafés, gardens, markets, and quiet corners throughout Seattle.
Each Portrait Day is announced in advance with a limited number of sessions available. Reserve a 30-minute time, meet me on location, and together we'll create a portrait using a traditional large-format camera. Your photograph is then developed by hand on photographic paper while you wait, leaving you with an original silver print to take home.
Working this way asks for a little patience and a little trust. Every portrait carries the character of the moment it was made, making each print as unique as the person in front of the camera.
New Plein Air are added throughout the year. Choose a location, reserve your time, and I'll meet you there.
Open session on the east meadow near the water tower. Faces north — good light most of the morning. Bring nothing in particular.
Sessions are announced a week or two in advance. Leave your email and you'll hear first.
30 minutes. The box is set up on location, the camera loaded. You stand or sit where the light is. There's a darkcloth, a ground glass, some time. Usually one or two exposures.
The negative develops in the box on site. A contact print is made the same day when possible, or sent within the week. A high-resolution scan is included.
Nothing specific. Wear what you'd wear anyway. The sessions work best when there's no preparation — showing up is enough.
